Setting up a watched folder:

The fastest, simplest, and most consistent method for creating PDF's from Postscript files to use an Adobe Distiller® Watched Folder. When properly configured Adobe Distiller® will monitor a watched folder. Any postscript files that are saved, copied or moved into a watch folder will automatically be processed into PDF's using the appropriate Job Options.

Step 1

The first step in setting up a watched folder is to create a folder on your system to be watched. Create the folder in a location that will be easy to locate and will not get accidentally discarded. The desktop is common location for a watched folder.
Next launch Adobe Distiller 7.

Step 2

From the Settings menu, select Watched Folders.

Step 3

Click the Add Folder button.

Step 4

Locate the watched folder that you created. Select this folder and click Open.

Step 5

Click on the Load Settings button.

Step 6

Select the RRD Job Option file that you installed.

Step 7

Select Deleted for Post Processing postscript file handling.
Then click OK.

Step 8

Select Preferences from the Distiller menu.

Step 9

Select Delete Log Files for Successful jobs.
The setup is now complete.

Step 10

Now inside of the PDF Watched folder exists an In folder, Out folder, and a folder.joboptions file.
With Distiller® running it will monitor the In any postscript file that is saved, copied, or moved into the In folder, will be automatically processed using the correct RRD Job Option.
The final PDF will then be produced and saved to the Out folder.
