Frequently asked Questions

Question:

Why is it important to use the revise filename indicator (r1, r2, etc) in the filename of a revise page?

Answer:

When a revised file(s) named the same as the original file(s) is uploaded through InSite and has been approved, that revise file(s) will not process. If this happens after normal business hours (8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday thru Friday), the wrong file(s) could easily be printed, especially if this happens at night or on the weekend. If the file(s) has not been approved and/or does not require InSite approval, files named identical to the original will process when uploaded and will overwrite the original(s). The DSC may, or may not, realize the revised file(s) has been uploaded. If the revise file(s) is uploaded after a form and/or job has been sent to the print site and the DSC is not notified that a revised file(s) is coming, the revised file(s) will not make it to the print site and the original will print. It is very important to follow proper naming conventions for all files as instructed in the "Naming Convention" section of the RRD Digital Specifications document.
